- Justification:
- No certain cognates outside of Balto-Slavic (cf. Latv. dižs 'great'). Commonly conntected with PIE *dei̯h₂- 'to light up' (LIV² 108, IEW 183f.), which is however problematic, as Winter's lengthening is lacking (ALEW 204-205; not in Derksen 2015, cf. also Smoczyński 2007:107-108).

S.v. OLith. dìdis 'groß, bedeutend' (BSl. dižs 'groß; vornehm, herrlich'). No certain cognates outside of Balto-Slavic (but no known Old Prussian correspondences. Commonly conntected with PIE *dei̯h₂- 'to light up' ([LIV²](src-141) 108, [IEW](src-49) 183f.), which is however problematic, as Winter's lengthening is lacking.
