Lexemes reflecting Proto-Iranic *u̯arda-, traditionally further connected to Vedic √vardh- 'to increase, grow' and further to an IE root *u̯erdʰ- (cf. Cabolov 2001–2010 I:399-400, IEW 1167), but cf. EWAia II:520-521, LIV² 228 against connections of this proposed root outside of Indo-Iranic.
