- Kloekhorst, Alwin: 993-996
Cf. s.v. Hitt. u̯eḫ- 'to turn (oneself); to patrol', rejecting the etymology advocated by [Oettinger 1979](src-649):99-100, etc. that the Hittite forms are derivatives from an acrostatic root present *u̯ḗh₂-/*u̯éh₂- with Narten ablaut on the basis that the forms require the assumption of Eichner's Law (non-colouration of *ē in the vicinity of *h₂), the validity of which Kloekhorst rejects. Instead Kloekhorst tentatively sets up *u̯ei̯h₂- comparing Skt. véti 'to pursue, strive after, Lith. výti 'to pursue', etc. [In re Eichner's Law, cf. also discussion in [cognate set 5403](cog-5403) –MJCS].
- Polański, Kazimierz and Lehr-Spławiński, Tadeusz: 1034
