References
  • Kloekhorst, Alwin: 939-940
S.v. Hitt. u̯āk- / u̯akk- 'to bite', from PIE *u̯eh₂g̑- (cf. Gk. ἄγνυμι 'break', TochAB wāk 'to split, burst'. The Anatolian forms represent preforms 3.sg. *u̯óh₂⁽g̑⁾-ei, 3.pl. *uh₂⁽g̑⁾-énti to root. Palaic u̯akk- 'to bite(?)' (3.pl.pret.act. u̯a-ak-ka₄-kán-ta) is a possible additional cognate within Anatolian.
  • Rix, Helmut: 664-665
S.v. *u̯eh₂⁽g̑⁾- 'brechen, zu Bruch gehen' (IEW 1110), cf. ἄγνυμι from -néu̯/nu- present *uh₂⁽g̑⁾-néu̯/nu- 'mache (zer)brechen' and TochA wākä[t] 'zerbrach'. The Hittite form is possibly from an iterative ?*u̯oh₂⁽g̑⁾-éi̯e-.
