  • Beekes, Robert: 1500
S.v. AGk. τραύξανα 'dry wood, brushwood', with variant τραύσανον· ξηρὸν πᾶν ἢ φρύγανον 'all dry items or firewood' (Hesych.). "Acc. to [Frisk 1960-1972](src-174), it may replace τρώξανα (see τρώγω) after θραύω. However, the variation αυ : ω betrays a Pre-Greek word ([Furnée 1972](src-665):286)".
  • Chantraine, Pierre: 1129
S.v. AGk. τραύξανα 'bois sec, petit bois', a doublet of τρώξανα (cf. τρώγω) on the model of θραύω 'briser'.
  • Liosis, Nikos:
    τσ̌όχανε < AG τραύσανον (Ηesych) / τραύξανα.
