Slavic lexemes derived from PIE *kes- *'to arrange, put in order' → to comb, scratch' (Derksen 2008:238, ESSJa 11:133-135; cf. LIV² 357). Perhaps also connected to Proto-Germanic *hēra- 'hair' (cf. Kroonen 2013:220 and further discussion in cognate set 9647).
