Justification:
Root etymology disputed. Either to *h₁es- 'throw' (LIV² 2. *h₁es-; cf. Kimball 1987; Kimball 1999:215, 391; Kloekhorst 2008:670-671 with references to earlier literature), alternatively others (cf. Melchert 1994:133) see a connection with the Hittite verb šii̯e/a- 'to shoot' and šai- 'to press' (cf. LIV² 1. *seh₁(i̯)-).
