Franco-Provençal (‘Arpitan’) refers to the Alpine varieties of Romance spoken in parts of Switzerland (Suisse Romande), Italy (Val d’Aosta) and France (Savoy). Not to be confused with Provençal, spoken in the Provence region of south-eastern France.
