Description
Middle Persian, as found in Manichaean texts from Central Asia, written in Manichaean script, which reflects the actual phonology much more closely than Zoroastrian ‘Pahlavi’ writing. The variety found in Manichaean texts also appears to be more strictly ‘Persian’ (fewer loans from North-West Iranian). The IE-CoR transcriptions follow the phonologisation by Durkin-Meisterernst and MacKenzie.
