Target Sense

• Most generic term, typically verbal, covering both breathing in and out together, as a cycle.
• Avoid terms that mean specifically breathing in or out — unless one of those terms doubles up as also the generic, unmarked term for the whole cycle of breathing.
• Only if a language (unusually) has no single term that covers both breathing in and out, then select whichever of those two terms is the most basic and general. Only if that cannot be distinguished, then select the term for breathing in.
