Justification:
Possibly to be connected with PIE *s⁽k̑⁾eH- in cognate set 7189, but the stem-formation in Celtic is difficult to reconcile (cf. Matasović 2009:342-343, Geiriadur Prifysgol Cymru (GPC)).

    S.v. Proto-Celtic *(s)kītto- 'left, clumsy'. Possibly to be connected with Lat. scaeuus, Gk. σκαιός < *skh₂ei̯-u̯o-, however in order to account for the Celtic forms one must assume a zero-grade *skh₂it-and 'expressive' gemination > *skh₂i-tto- which makes this etymology somewhat speculative.
