Clackson regards the connection between Greek ξηρός and Armenian չոր čʻor as doubtful. (See p.182 for references.)
S.v. Arm. cʻir 'dried fruit', cʻor 'dry'. The etymology with Greek ξηρός is usually doubted because one normally expects Armenian cʻ from PIE *ks, *sk, but Martirosyan considers (s.v. čʻir, čʻor) a viable comparison with Greek ξηρός, arguing (2.1.12) that čʻ- is the correct reflex of *ks- in initial position.
Of uncertain origin. "The traditional comparison with Gk. ξηρός, Skt. kṣārá- seems to be incompatible with the sound laws. Even a metathesized *skoro- (cf. Solta l.c.) would probably yield *cʻor."
