Shows that Middle Indic preserves i-stem o that Avestan and Indic can be matched and there is no advantage in connecting Avestan to Vedic prṣṭí- 'rib' instead of prṣṭhá- 'back'. So, all the words for 'back' can have one single source *pr̥-sth₂-o/i- cognate with Slavic words for 'finger'.
S.v. Ved. pr̥ṣtí- 'Rippe' (cf. IIr. in YAv. paršti-, etc. with full-grade), not to be separated from Ved. párśu- 'Rippe', connections outside of IIr. are uncertain. Possibly IE *perk̑- if to be connected with OCS prьsi 'breast'.
