    S.v. aidu- 'feu, ardeur', a word that may be adduced from the name of a Gaulish tribe, Aedui < *aidu̯oi, which could be understood as 'les Ardents'; thematisation of aidu 'fire' comparable to OIr. aed 'feu'.
