S.v. *h₂eh₁- 'heiß sein' (not in IEW). The root is perhaps found verbally in Palaic ḫāri, ḫanta 'heiß sein' < *h₂eh₁-, which may be an unextended form of *h₂eh₁s- '(durch Hitze) vertrocknen' (IEW 68).
